About us

Welcome to Soft & Seen, where every stuffed animal is made with love, realism, and a deep commitment to inclusivity.

My name is Kathleen, and I started Soft & Seen because I believe everyone deserves to feel seen and celebrated- kids and adults alike. Whether you are three or ninety-three, you deserve a cuddly friend who reflects your uniqueness and makes you feel at home in your own skin.

My inspiration comes from my amazing child, Rowan. He has a rare neuromuscular disorder and uses a power wheelchair, but more importantly, he has a bright, joyful spirit and a love for all things whimsical- especially rainbows and unicorns. Rowan has shown me how powerful it can be to see yourself represented, and he inspires me to create stuffed animals that reflect all kinds of bodies and abilities. That might mean a plushie with a wheelchair, braces, a hearing aid, limb differences, or other thoughtful details.

We are always looking for new ways to represent more people. If you or someone you love has a difference that is not yet included in our designs, I would love to hear your suggestions. Whether it is a medical device, mobility aid, or unique feature, your ideas help us create companions that make more people feel seen and celebrated.

Each Soft & Seen stuffed animal is handmade in my home with soft textures, realistic details, and options for personalization like embroidery, custom fonts, and colors. Every creature is meant to be more than a toy- it is a comforting companion and a reminder that differences are worth celebrating.

Soft & Seen is also a way for me to support Rowan’s future. The profits from each sale help us make our home more accessible, maintain the equipment and transportation he needs, and give him the joyful experiences every child deserves.

At Soft & Seen, we believe that everyone deserves to be represented, loved, and hugged, just the way they are. These plushies are not just toys. They are companions, conversation starters, and mirrors. They tell every person, “You belong.”
